Former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has given his take on Wolverhampton Wanderers’ current situation in The Mirror.

Wolves struggled in the Championship last season, but the Wanderers are doing exceptionally well at the moment.

Nuno’s side got the better of Aston Villa 2-0 at the weekend to go to the top of the Championship.

Collymore has praised Wolves for the way they have started the season, but the former Nottingham Forest and Liverpool striker has reminded the fans that there is a long way to go this season.

“I get loads of stick from Wolves fans because I’ve been critical of Jorge Mendes’s involvement with the club,” Collymore wrote in The Mirror.

“And after their 2-0 victory over my team, Aston Villa, on Saturday, I owe three Wolves-supporting mates a tenner each.

“But fair play to them for going top of the Championship and good luck to them — although I’ll remind them that there is still a long way to go and see where they are at the end of the season.”

Wolves have been brilliant so far this season and are arguably the best team to watch in the Championship at the moment.

True, there is a long way to go in the season, but the signs are very positive for Wanderers.

Nuno is a very good manager, and he seems to be bringing the best out of the Wolves players.

Given the performances and results of Wolves so far this season, it would be a surprise if they fail to clinch a playoff spot at least.
