Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson played a starring role as England beat Malta 2-0 yesterday.

Stan Collymore has told the Daily Mirror that Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson was England’s stand out player against Malta yesterday.
Henderson was selected to start by Gareth Southgate in his first match in charge of the Three Lions, and he put in an excellent display.

The Liverpool man was the driving force behind many of England’s attacks, as they picked up a comfortable win over Malta in World Cup qualifying.
England won 2-0 at Wembley, thanks to goals from Daniel Sturridge and Dele Alli.
But it was Henderson who stole the show, according to Collymore. He said: “Jordan Henderson, was the outstanding player here.

“He did very well getting in behind their defensive midfield, provided four or five good crosses, and even did well getting beyond their back four.
“He popped the ball round crisply and got the assist for the second goal as well.”
Henderson has been criticised for some of his displays in an England shirt before, but he has enjoyed a fine run of form this season.
The former Sunderland man has put in a string of excellent displays for Liverpool already this term, and he appears to have carried his momentum into the international break.
Henderson is likely to start for England in their next match, which comes against Slovenia on Tuesday.
