Dele Alli has been excellent for Tottenham Hotspur this season, and Stan Collymore has conceded that he may have made a mistake.

Stan Collymore has told the Daily Mirror that he was wrong to suggest earlier in the season that Dele Alli should leave Tottenham for one of Europe’s biggest clubs as he now feels that he is at the perfect place for his career.
In only his second season in the Premier League, Alli has established himself as one of the division’s best, proving extremely influential for Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
He has scored 16 times to sit level with Sergio Aguero and only behind five players including Harry Kane, Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Premier League’s goalscoring charts.
And while Collymore is certain that a number of Europe’s heavyweights will be chasing his signature, he insisted that staying at Tottenham would be the best decision for his development, despite what he previously said about the 21-year-old.
“He will undoubtedly be on the radars of Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, and perhaps also Barcelona,” he told the Mirror.

“But my advice to him would be simple: The big, big money will come three, four, five years down the line.
“I said in my Mirror column earlier this season that maybe he should sign for a Real Madrid, he is that good. But I was wrong, and I’ve completely changed my mind on the subject now.
“With Spurs going into their new stadium, and with three or four of his young England team-mates also doing well there, he should stay where he is, try to make a dent in the Champions League and continue his learning curve.”

It is a scary thought but Alli should continue to get better over the coming years, and therefore, staying at Spurs and continuing to be a talisman for his team could be extremely beneficial to his chances of realising his full potential.
Moving away could arguably be a gamble, as perhaps another club would not be able to give him the freedom that he currently enjoys at White Hart Lane.
