West Ham United have reportedly identified Emiliano Buendia as a potential player to replace Jesse Lingard if David Moyes can’t sign the latter on a permanent basis.
According to The Sunday Mirror [page 72, 02/05], West Ham are keen on the Argentine playmaker.
Buendia won Premier League promotion with Norwich City this season and, as a bonus, was crowned Championship Player of the Year.
The Daily Mail also reported in April that the Canaries would want a fee in the region of £40 million.
Lingard has proven himself a revelation in East London after joining on loan from Manchester United this past January.
The 28-year-old has scored nine goals and set up another four in 14 Premier League outings under Moyes.
It goes without saying that West Ham fans will be desperate to see him back next season and beyond.
But how do they feel about signing Buendia as a possible replacement? Here’s how they reacted:
Yes, it’s the Championship and it’s inferior to the Premier League, but Buendia, who did impress in the top flight last season, still ripped it up nonetheless.
In 40 second-tier games this season, the South American scored 14 goals and set up a whopping 17 and it would be fascinating to see what he can do in a better side, surrounded by better players.
