Staggering Manchester United run comes to an end, while Leeds United get their moment

Manchester United’s FA Cup television streak has ended… with Leeds United chosen instead.

Manchester United’s run of FA Cup matches selected for television coverage has come to an end.

The Red Devils were quite ludicrously chosen for a staggering 58 consecutive FA Cup ties to be broadcast live over the past 12 seasons.

Their third round tie against Derby County did not sway broadcasters… who have found room to screen Manchester United’s old rivals Leeds United instead.

BBC Sport have selected Leeds United’s third round game away at League Two’s Newport County.

Leeds United’s visit to Newport County will also be shown.

Leeds are clearly being eyed as ripe for a giantkilling, after their defeat to non-league side Sutton United last season under former boss Garry Monk.

The reassurance for Leeds is that they have already beaten Newport this season, and quite easily.
