Garth Crooks has written on BBC Sport that he thinks that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool might be too big for Darwin Nunez.

The former Tottenham Hotspur forward believes that Liverpool striker Nunez is suffering from stage fright.

Crooks made the comments after Liverpool’s defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at the weekend.

It was yet another poor performance from the Merseyside club.

The £140,000-a-week (The Times) Nunez struggled yet again.

Crooks wrote: “I’m beginning to think Nunez is suffering from stage fright. Clubs don’t come much bigger than Liverpool and the pressure can be enormous. Nunez is really struggling in front of goal.”

Struggling

There is no hiding from the fact that Darwin Nunez has been struggling for Liverpool since his move in the summer of 2022.

The 23-year-old is getting chances, but the Uruguay international striker is simply unable to take them.

The Liverpool no. 27 has made 11 starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League so far this season.

Nunez has scored five goals and given two assists in those matches.

The young striker has scored three goals in six UEFA Champions League appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side so far this campaign.

Are Liverpool too big for Nunez?

No, we do not think so.

Let us not forget that Nunez is only 23.

And he is playing in a team who are not having the best of times.

We have to take all these factors into consideration.
