Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen says starting six consecutive matches for the Netherlands national team has left him feeling confident.
Speaking to Dutch outlet DH, Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has explained that his run for the Netherlands team has given him a lot of confidence.
From relative obscurity, Vincent Janssen has managed to earn a reputation as one of the most promising young strikers in Europe over a period of just two years.
Janssen had been playing for little known Eerste Divisie side Almere City as recently as 2015 and as a mark of his meteoric rise, the striker is now plying his trade for Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur following a £17 million move from AZ this summer.
Given his stunning exploits over the past few years, Janssen has managed to establish himself in the Netherlands national team as well and the young attacker is clearly the first choice striker for the Oranje under manager Danny Blind.
Since making his debut back in March 2016, Janssen has started in every match for the Dutch side and the Tottenham star has now stated that such a run in the national team has filled him with a lot of confidence.
The 22-year-old was quoted saying by DH, “The last six games I’ve started, this gives confidence, yes. It’s a great feeling, every time you see that shirt with the number nine. I’m very proud of it.
“I have a lot of energy in my game, even already as a youth player. The more I’m moving, the stronger I feel. Sometimes I’m a little too excited, I just want to be happy.”
Janssen has made a bit of an underwhelming start to life at Tottenham Hotspur but one can expect goals from the former AZ man at White Hart Lane once he adapts to life in the Premier League.
