Espanyol Sporting Director Angel Gomez has denied interest in the Manchester United player.

Speaking to Spanish publication Sport, Espanyol Sporting Director Angel Gomez has categorically stated that his side will not be pursuing the services of Manchester United star Juan Mata.
Following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as manager of United, it is widely believed that Mata will be leaving Old Trafford this summer as the Spaniard does not share the best of relationships with the new Red Devils boss.

Given Mata’s immense quality, it is no surprise whatsoever in seeing a number of clubs interested in securing the services of the Spaniard and the Daily Telegraph had claimed that Everton were trying to convince the 28-year-old to join them.
Recently, the Daily Mirror had claimed that even La Liga side Espanyol were ready to make a swoop for Mata and that the Barcelona-based club were closely monitoring the situation of the Spanish international.

Having been linked with such a high profile player, Espanyol chief Gomez was understandably questioned about the rumors but the Sporting Director immediately went on to dismiss any chances of his side signing Mata as he suggested that the move would be financially unfeasible.
Speaking to Sport, Gomez said, “I am surprised (regarding the link with Mata), I see it as unfeasible, because we have not taken any steps.”
