According to reports from Belgian outlet DH, Sunderland manager David Moyes is desperate to land the services of Manchester City central defender Jason Denayer.

Denayer has managed to prove himself as one of the most promising young defenders in Europe following successful loan spells with Celtic and Galatasaray but the 21-year-old has not been able to quite make it at parent club Manchester City.

Due to the intense competition for places at the Etihad Stadium, Denayer has never been given a fair chance to prove himself for the Manchester City first team and it looks very unlikely that the defender will be earning regular minutes on the pitch for the Citizens this season, especially following the club’s big money acquisition of John Stones from Everton.

As a result, Denayer has been touted to leave City this summer but as manager Pep Guardiola rates the Belgian international as one for the future, another loan move has been seen as likely possibility.

Recently, reports from the Sun had claimed that no less than four Premier League clubs in Sunderland, Southampton, Bournemouth and Swansea City had been credited with an interest in Denayer.

Now according to Belgian outlet DH, revelations can be made that Sunderland are the team with the most concrete interest in Denayer and that manager David Moyes is intent on landing the services of the youngster.

Sunderland look set to lose the services of star man Lamine Kone before the end of the month and Denayer could well prove to be a very good replacement for the Ivory Coast international.
