According to reports from France Football, reported Tottenham Hotspur target Eliaquim Mangala is likely to rejoin former side FC Porto.

Manchester City splashed a reported £42 million to secure the services of Mangala from Porto during the summer of 2014 and given such a huge investment one could not blame the Citizens faithful for expecting big things from the Frenchman.

Two years on from the transfer though, Mangala has not even come close to justifying his staggering price tag, and following the arrival of John Stones from Everton this summer it is widely expected that the 25-year-old will be shown the door by manager Pep Guardiola.

Despite his struggles at the Etihad Stadium, a number of clubs are interested in signing Mangala before the end of the summer transfer window and it has surprisingly been claimed by ESPN recently that Tottenham Hotspur were considering a move for the French international, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino said to be a keen admirer.

Mangala’s former club Porto have also been credited with an interest recently and now according to reports from France Football, the defender is more likely to re-join the Dragons than head to Tottenham.

It has been claimed that Porto have expressed their interest in signing Mangala on a season-long loan deal and that the club’s progression into the group stages of the Champions League gives them a strong chance of recruiting their former defender.
