Speaking to Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport (Calcio Mercato in English), AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang has said that he snubbed Arsenal and Everton during his Caen days.

Niang was one of the hottest properties in European football following his breakthrough at French side Caen a few years ago and it was Italian giants AC Milan who managed to secure the services of the striker during the summer of 2012.

Although Milan are a huge club, the transfer took a few people by surprise due to the fact that it was previously reported Niang had been on trial with a host of Premier League sides.

A few years on from the move, Niang has now gone on to admit that there was interest in him from the likes of Arsenal and Everton while he was at Caen but he decided against the move to England in order to join Milan instead.

Niang told Gazzetta Dello Sport, “I could have played in the Premier League and I dream of playing there one day. They play the right football for my skills. When I moved to Milan, I could have moved to Arsenal or Everton instead. Two or three days before last year’s derby I received the offer of Leicester.

“I asked my agent what Milan wanted to do and he told me that the wanted to keep me. ‘You are going to stay and score in the derby’ Mihajlovic told me at the time.”

Niang has perhaps not developed as well as Milan would have liked since his move to the San Siro and there is still a possibility that the 21-year-old could potentially make a switch to the Premier League at some point in the future.
