Olympique de Marseille have reportedly turned their attention towards signing Norwich City midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu.
According to reports from L’Equipe, Olympique de Marseille have now focused their attention towards signing Youssouf Mulumbu following frustration in their chase for Aston Villa duo Carlos Sanchez and Jordan Veretout.
It is no secret that Marseille are currently in the market to sign a new central midfielder and Sanchez and Veretout (Birmingham Mail) had been mentioned as the two main targets for the French giants.
However, it looks like Marseille will not be pushing through with their interest in either Sanchez or Veretout as they are unable to meet the Villa duo’s high wage demands (La Provence).
As a result, Marseille have been forced to look at transfer targets elsewhere and now according to reports emerging out of France, Les Phocéens are currently considering a move for Norwich midfielder Mulumbu.
Mulumbu joined Norwich from West Bromwich Albion at the start of last season but the midfielder was afforded only 370 minutes of playing time in the Premier League by manager Alex Neil and as a result it is widely expected that the 29-year-old will be looking to leave Carrow Road this summer.
Norwich could be on keen dispensing with the services Mulumbu as the Canaries are looking to reduce their wage bill following their relegation into the Championship and L’Equipe state that Marseille are now interested in signing the DR Congo international on a free transfer.
