Nottingham Forest owner Fawaz Al Hasawi has gone on to defend his decision to sell Oliver Burke.
Fawaz Al Hasawi has not been the most popular of figures among the Nottingham Forest supporters since his takeover of the club back in the summer of 2012.
Al Hasawi has made a number of questionable decisions at Forest over the past four years or so and the Kuwaiti businessman deciding to sell star youngster Oliver Burke recently has not gone down too well with the City Ground faithful.
Forest had received an offer of around £15 million from Bundesliga outfit Red Bull Leipzig for Burke this week and Al Hasawi wasted no time whatsoever in accepting the bid.
Following the completion of the transfer, even Burke revealed that he was surprised with Forest accepting Leipzig’s offer.
He said via Twitter: “When I found out that Forest had agreed a deal to sell me, it was a surprise, but I understand that the transfer fee received should help to stabilise the club allow Forest to sign at least two or three quality players who can help the team push for promotion.”
Understandably, the fans have been left angered at Al Hasawi following the sale of Burke but the 48-year-old has now gone on to defend himself.
Through social media website Twitter, Al Hasawi assured fans that Forest will be looking to reinvest the funds generated from the sale of Burke to strengthen the squad and pointed to the past signings of Britt Assombalonga and Michail Antonio to justify his recent controversial decision.
