Phil Jagielka has stated that the Everton players are fearful of Ronald Koeman.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Phil Jagielka has explained that the Everton players fear Ronald Koeman as the Dutchman is not scared of making changes if he is not happy.

Everton appointed Ronald Koeman as their new manager over the summer and many felt at the time that the capture of the Dutchman was a major coup for the Toffees.

Unsurprisingly, Koeman has already made a positive impact at Goodison Park so far, and under his tutelage Everton have made a stunning start to the season by claiming 13 points from their first five matches of the season.

Following the fine start, there is now a sense of optimism among the Everton supporters that they could potentially earn a top four finish during the current campaign.

There is evidently a long way to go before Everton can start thinking about such lofty ambitions, but there is no doubting the fact that Koeman has brought about a feel good factor at the Blue half of Merseyside once again.

Everton skipper Jagielka has been left very impressed with the work Koeman has done so far and has admitted that the players fear the 53-year-old due to the fact that he is not afraid to make changes when things are not going according to plan.

Jagielka told the Daily Mail, “Yes there is a fear, definitely, just down to the fact that there have been people who have had good pre-seasons and they haven’t started a game yet.

“He is not scared of making changes. James (McCarthy) was really unlucky at West Brom, playing out of position and he got brought off before half-time because we needed to do something different tactically.

“He is not afraid of making decisions before and after the game. It is like being back at school with a new headteacher who is trying to be a little bit stricter.

“You only have to look at the jobs he has done. That proves he has not done a bad job. At the moment it is going well. I wouldn’t say we are playing amazing, but we are getting fantastic results and that breeds confidence.”

Everton prepare to square off against Championship side Norwich City at Carrow Road in the EFL Cup on Tuesday night and Koeman will surely be demanding his players to continue their fine run of form with another victory.
