Agent Furio Valcareggi has stated that Napoli’s £1.2 million acquisition of Emanuele Giaccherini from Sunderland this summer could prove to be the deal of the summer.

Speaking to Calcio Mercato, Emanuele Giaccherini’s agent has stated that the Italian international’s £1.2 million move from Sunderland to Napoli is a huge coup for the Serie A side.
Giaccherini had joined Sunderland from Juventus during the summer of 2013 and given his exploits for the Italian national team during the Confederations Cup, many believed at the time that the attacking midfielder would take the Premier League by storm.
As it turned out though, Giaccherini never really got going at Sunderland and following two difficult seasons at the Stadium of Light, the 31-year-old moved back to Italy on loan with Bologna.

Giaccherini revitalszed his career upon the switch to Bologna last term and the former Cesena star then went on to enjoy a wonderful 2016 European Championship campaign for his national team under Antonio Conte.
Following his exploits in France this summer, a host of Serie A clubs were interested in signing Giaccherini and he eventually made a move to Napoli on a permanent basis for a meagre fee of around £1.2 million.
Sunderland accepting such a low bid for Giaccherini was a clear indication that the player was surplus to requirements at Wearside but from Napoli’s point of view, they have signed an Italian international for a huge bargain.

Now Giaccherini’s agent Furio Valcareggi has gone on to speak regarding his client’s move to the Stadio San Paolo and he believes that the transfer will prove to be the deal of the season as Napoli managed to sign the attacker for virtually nothing.
He said, “He’s ready to play anywhere, and Napoli have taken to him. I think Giaccherini will be this summer’s coup, because Napoli paid his transfer for €1.5m, and it’s like finding a wallet full of cash on the floor.”
