‘Squared up to him’: Sky pundit reacts to what happened to Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch

Michael Bridges noticed how Jesse Marsch was involved in a few heated exchanges during Leeds United’s 3-1 win over League One side, Accrington Stanley, in the FA Cup on Saturday.

The Leeds boss isn’t shy to express himself on the sidelines, nor air his views if he doesn’t agree with a passage of play on the field.

Well, that happened in the FA Cup yesterday, including Accrington assistant, Jimmy Bell, ‘squaring up’ to the American during the game.

There are some who simply don’t like managers being animated in the technical area, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was labelled ‘disrespectful’ by Alan Shearer a number of weeks ago for his touchline antics against Newcastle United.

It’s the passion of the game and there aren’t many who are as passionate as Marsch.

And against Accrington Stanley, the former RB Salzburg boss was in the thick of it when coming up against the opposition bench and it was noticed by former Leeds man Michael Bridges, as he told Sky Sports (28/01/23).

“There are a bit more animated scenes on the sidelines because, in the first half, the first yellow card of the game was Liam Coyle,” said Bridges. “He went in with a challenge on Firpo. Jesse Marsch said ‘it’s got to be a booking’.

“Now, Jimmy Bell, the assistant of Accrington, just squared up to him straight away. He wasn’t happy with it.

“Since then, every opportunity Jimmy Bell is having on the sidelines, to have a go at Jesse Marsch, he’s in his face.”

FA CUP MARSCH..?

Leeds United have had many downs this season and they are still trying to get out of trouble near the bottom of the Premier League table.

But perhaps they can find some life in the FA Cup and go on a cup run?!

It’s been some while since the Yorkshire outfit have gone deep in a cup competition and perhaps Marsch can win over some fans by producing the goods in the FA Cup.

There is a mixed response to the job he is doing at Elland Road, and whilst you need the luck of the draw sometimes, this Leeds side could do with a strong cup run.
