The Tottenham Hotspur ace will be hoping to break into the first-team this season.

Spurs youngster Josh Onomah spoke to reporters following his fine performance against PSG during his side’s 4-2 win yesterday, and shared his delight at comparisons made between him and teammate Mousa Dembele, as quoted by the Daily Star.

The 20-year-old midfielder is highly regarded at Tottenham, and has been tipped for a bright future with the north London outfit.

Despite the comparisons with the Belgium international, Onomah is actually more of an attack-minded player, although he is at an age where his best position is still yet to be determined.

And the talented youngster spoke to reporters regarding his admiration for the 29-year-old former Fulham man, admitting that he could very well adapt into the deep-lying midfield role that Dembele currently occupies, as quoted by the Daily Star:

“Since I’ve been training with the first team from 14 or 15, Mousa has always been a role model. He’s always spoken to me and I like the way he plays. I feel there’s some similarities there. But to be compared to Mousa Dembele…it’s a great compliment. Earlier in his career, he started out wide but when he got older he started playing central and deeper. If he can do it, I believe that I can as well. To be fair when I was growing up and I was watching him, before he was Spurs, when he was at Fulham, I liked the way he played.”

Onomah will be hoping to really announce himself on the big stage this season, although he will have to raise his performance levels even further still, if he hopes to usurp one of Tottenham’s current stars.

One thing that will be crucial for the 20-year-old will be for him to establish his best position. This will enable him to focus all of his attention on improving the certain aspects of his game that are required to fulfil whichever particular role he chooses to specialise in.

And if he can go on to emulate Dembele’s career, Spurs could have one heck of a player on their hands.
