Tottenham Hotspur reportedly want Fenerbahce hitman Vedat Muriqi.

According to Sabah in Turkey, Tottenham Hotspur sent scouts to watch Fenerbahce striker Vedat Muriqi in action for Kosovo on Saturday afternoon, with the report noting that the press in Kosovo have compared him to Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Muriqi led the line for Kosovo in their 2-1 victory, and scored the equaliser before Mergim Vojvoda turned home the winner for Kosovo, extending their unbeaten run to 15 games.

Kosovo only became a UEFA-recognised country in 2016, so their rise has been remarkable, and Muriqi is one of the most dangerous players in their side.

Tonight, Muriqi will be relied upon for goals against England, with Kosovo facing a tough challenge in their EURO 2020 qualifier at St Mary’s Stadium.

Muriqi, 25, may well be watched by Tottenham again tonight given that he’ll be playing in England, and he’ll face a real test of his qualities against Harry Maguire.

The £80milion Manchester United defender will again lead the England defence, and he’ll be looking to dominate the 6ft 4in powerhouse striker to nullify Kosovo’s threat.

If Muriqi can cause problems against a top Premier League centre back in Maguire, he may well show that he can be a dangerous striker in English football, which could be vital in Tottenham’s evaluations of him.

The interest in Muriqi is particularly important as the Daily Mail recently reported that Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is concerned that his team doesn’t have a Plan B, seemingly wanting a big, physical target man to replace Fernando Llorente.

Muriqi ticks the boxes, possessing great strength and aerial ability, whilst he has scored twice in three games for Fenerbahce since signing from Caykur Rizespor this summer for £3million.

With 17 goals and eight assists last season, Muriqi has shown his ability to score and link-up play, which is what Spurs would be looking for as a complement to Harry Kane – and they’ll seemingly share a pitch tonight as Spurs look to the Kosovo star to solve Pochettino’s concerns.
