Harry Redknapp suggests Tottenham Hotspur were a better side two years ago.

Harry Redknapp looks on before the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on January 31, 2018 in London, England.

Harry Redknapp has told BBC 5 Live’s Sportsweek that Tottenham Hotspur were a better side two years ago, when Kyle Walker was still in North London.

Saturday’s 1-1 North London derby draw with Arsenal at Wembley appears to have ended Tottenham’s Premier League title hopes once and for all, leaving Mauricio Pochettino’s side 10 points off the pace with only nine matches left.

Spurs have picked up just one point from a possible nine – a run of form which means that finishing inside the top four is the new primary objective in terms of domestic aspirations.

The Lilywhites’ right-back situation has been a problem all season for Pochettino, evident by the fact that Kieran Trippier scored a bizarre own goal in the midweek defeat by Chelsea.

“I honestly think Tottenham were better two years ago when Kyle Walker was playing right-back and absolutely on fire,” Redknapp told BBC 5 Live’s Sportsweek program.

The majority of Tottenham fans will undoubtedly agree with their former manager, but Victor Wanyama might too.

The Spurs midfielder, a regular fixture in the 2016-17 side which didn’t lose a single game at White Hart Lane, ‘liked’ a graphic of Redknapp’s comments on Instagram.

He is undoubtedly on another level to Serge Aurier, and certainly Trippier who, despite a glittering World Cup campaign with England last summer, hasn’t been able to replicate that standard for Pochettino.
