Despite suffering a 4-0 loss to their North London rivals in the Premier League 2 on Friday night, two Spurs players got comparatively good ratings.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-23s had a night to forget on Friday as they fell to a 4-0 defeat at the hands of their Arsenal counterparts at the Lamex Stadium.
The North London rivals locked horns in the Premier League 2 fixture but despite an early break from Spurs, the Gunners drew first blood in the fourth minute through Joe Willock’s close-range finish.
Spurs began seeing more of the ball afterwards but suffered another blow as George Marsh’s handled in their box for a Gunners penalty, Charlie Gilmour stepping up and converting from 12 yards..
Willock then got his brace, and a third for his side, with a curling effort inside the Spurs box for a 3-0 half-time lead, and shortly after the restart, Eddie Nketiah seized on a underhit Jack Roles pass to slot home from a tight angle.
Overall, a bad day at the office for Wayne Burnett and his side, and when it came to individual performances, Football.London pulled few punches in giving all but two of the Tottenham players either 4s or 5s out of 10.
Just two players seemed to have emerged with any credit, having been given 6s – left-back Dennis Cirkin and midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe.
Despite being just 16, Cirkin was deemed one of the better performers on the pitch and, just before the hour mark, tested the Arsenal goalkeeper with a powerful effort after cutting inside.
Oakley-Boothe, an Under-17 World Cup winner with England, also did comparatively well, seeing an effort cleared out of the Gunners goalmouth and almost going through late on.
According to the official Spurs website, Cirkin featured regularly for the Under-16s in 2017/18, scoring seven goals, while 19-year-old Oakley-Boothe made his senior competitive debut in the Carabao Cup win over Barnsley in September 2017.
