Tottenham Hotspur have been warned that they now face legal action if they chase a deal for winger Manor Solomon.

Tottenham Hotspur have been in talks to sign winger Manor Solomon but face a serious backlash from Shakhtar Donetsk.

That is the stance put forward by Shakhtar chief executive Sergei Palkin after hearing of Tottenham’s interest.

Palkin has been speaking to ESPN about Solomon and he really isn’t messing about.

Palkin is angry as FIFA have decided that non-Ukrainian players are allowed to unilaterally suspend their contracts if they want to leave Ukraine.

Solomon did just that last summer by joining Fulham but is technically still owned by Shakhtar.

The Israeli international is thought to be out of contract later this year, meaning he would be able to sign a pre-contract agreement.

Shakhtar are outraged that they can now lose players for nothing when they would be worth millions on the market.

Solomon fits that bill and Palkin is warning Tottenham that they won’t find it easy to sign the winger.

Palkin has admitted that he has offered Solomon a return to Shakhtar with Champions League action on offer, but the wide man wants to stay in England.

Palkin added that Shakhtar ‘will deal with Tottenham in court’ if they sign Solomon, believing ‘it is not fair’ if they are able to sign Solomon for free.

“I contacted Solomon and his agent and invited him back to our club,” said Palkin. “I said ‘you can play all the games in the Champions League, you will be in the starting eleven’ but he doesn’t want to move and I believe he will stay in England.”

“Finally, where he will go, I don’t know. In any case, if you go to Tottenham, we will deal with Tottenham in court in this case. Everything comes to a simple situation: it sounds like unjust enrichment. Can you imagine, we pay big money for this player and finally Tottenham receives him for free? It is not fair in respect of our club. We will definitely go to court and we will fight for ourselves,” he added.

Manor Solomon to Tottenham – the latest

Tottenham have been linked with Solomon for months now but the speculation really ramped up at the end of May.

The Athletic reported that Tottenham are working on a permanent deal for Solomon and lead the race for his signature.

ONE in Solomon’s native Israel also claimed that Tottenham would be Solomon’s likely destination this summer.

The plan was for Solomon to sign a four-year deal with Tottenham and stay in London after a season on loan at Fulham.

The 23-year-old only started four Premier League games for Fulham this season and came off the bench 15 times.

Solomon did enjoy a stunning run of form in February and early March, scoring in five consecutive games across all competitions.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp hailed Solomon as ‘very explosive’ back in March but he wasn’t able to continue that form.

Tottenham seemingly saw something in Solomon but bringing him to North London this summer may be a little tricky.
