Tottenham Hotspur talent Alfie Devine has been brought up to train with the England first-team squad ahead of games against Ukraine and Scotland.
Alfie Devine has trained with the England senior side today having been brought up from the England Under-20’s.
The Times’ Henry Winter has posted a video on Twitter from St George’s Park, noting that Devine has been ‘drafted in’ to training today.
We often see Under-21 players – or those even younger – given chances to train with England when possible.
It’s Devine’s turn today with Gareth Southgate recognising the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder’s talent and potential.
The likes of James Maddison and Harry Kane are also spotted in the video with Devine given a chance to impress.

Tottenham Hotspur have high hopes for Alfie Devine
Devine has been in the England picture for a while now in terms of his rise through the age ranges.
The 19-year-old featured for the Under-16’s and has been a regular for the Under-19’s in recent times.
Devine played at the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year and he has now been picked out for England senior training.
Tottenham signed Devine from Wigan Athletic back in 2020 and he became the club’s youngest-ever player in January 2021, scoring against non-league Marine.
The attacking midfielder – formerly of the Liverpool youth ranks – is thought to be a huge talent for the future and even Jose Mourinho was a fan.
The Athletic reported in 2021 that Mourinho actually told Devine that he reminded him of Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes.
That’s a lofty comparison but with Southgate and England taking notice too, Devine could well become a Premier League star down the line.

Devine already making impact on loan at Port Vale
Tottenham have now sent Devine out on loan for first-team exposure with League One side Port Vale.
Devine made his debut at the end of August and then made a massive impact for Vale this past weekend.
Devine was brought on as a second-half substitute and set up Port Vale’s opener against Oxford United with a superb cross from a wide free kick.
The game was poised at 1-1 heading into injury-time and when Port Vale won a spot kick, Devine stepped up to fire home the late winner.
That’s a major step for Devine and as if he wasn’t on enough of a high after that, he’s now rubbing shoulders with England’s top stars.
