Tottenham Hotspur already have four former Ajax players in their squad.

Tottenham Hotspur target Donny Van De Beek’s stock continues rise after a fantastic display in a 3-0 victory over Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven.

The 20-year-old’s goal in that game means he’s now scored five goals in his last four matches for Ajax and is begining to catch the eye of Europe’s elite.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly sent scouts to watch the midfielder back in October according to the Sun but he’s developed furthermore since then and has become a crucial player for the Dutch outfit.

He’s filled the void vacated by Davy Klaassen and is even being compared to Christian Eriksen. He has exceptional passing ability and can control the tempo of games and is playing with a maturity beyond his age.

His standout moment came last month in Ajax’s 8-0 away victory over NAC Breda where Van De Beek bagged a hat-trick. He’s now scored eight goals in all competitions and also has five assists. He’s also made his debut for the Netherlands national team who see him playing a key role in their attempts to qualify for Euro 2020.

Calcio Mercato report that AC Milan have joined the hunt for his signature, so Tottenham are starting to become victims of his excellent performances as Europe’s elite are beginning to take notice.

Spurs have had plenty of success in signing Ajax players. Eriksen was captured for just £11.5m and they purchased Davinson Sanchez and Jan Vertonghen from the Dutch side. Toby Alderweireld makes up the quartet of former Ajax players to have been successful at Spurs so it’s little surprise that they’re willing to return to the Amsterdam club for new talent.
