According to Soccerlink, reported Tottenham Hotspur target Sergino Dest has a verbal agreement to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

The pacey Ajax fullback has been heavily linked with a move this summer.

A report last week from Football London claimed Tottenham are keen on Dest.

Spurs have endured problems in the fullback positions for the past 18 months, with Kieran Trippier leaving for Atletico Madrid and Serge Aurier somewhat inconsistent.

Dest, 19, is another pearl from Ajax and his form hasn’t gone unnoticed.

A recent report from Voetbal International cite Paris Saint-Germain as suitors as they look for a replacement for Tottenham-linked Thomas Meunier.

The Amsterdam club reportedly value Dest at around the £22 million mark.

But both Spurs and PSG face a tough battle for his signature. Soccerlink say Dest has already agreed to join Bayern with the clubs seeking to strike a deal.

Dest fits the profile of a young, energetic player with a potentially large re-sale value.

But from Tottenham’s perspective, the Premier League club may find Meunier the better short-term option as the Belgium international is available on a free transfer.

The Covid-19 suspension may have put a strain on Spurs’ finances. Moreover, the possibility of missing out on Champions League football won’t help this summer.

French publication L’Equpie recently claimed Meunier was interested in a move to Spurs, with manager Jose Mourinho keen to bring him in.
