Tottenham Hotspur are facing problems in their pursuit of Brennan Johnson with talks understood to be ‘frustrating’.
Ange Postecoglou really wants to bring Brennan Johnson to Tottenham Hotspur but there has been a lack of progress over a deal.
That is according to The Independent, who claim that Tottenham are ‘some way off’ agreeing a deal to sign Johnson.
It’s suggested that Forest are demanding a ‘basic price’ of £40million for Johnson with add-ons potentially taking the deal higher.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is described as being ‘hugely keen’ on a deal to bring Johnson to North London.
The good news for Spurs fans is that personal terms won’t be a problem and Johnson himself is keen to make the move to Tottenham.
However, talks between Spurs and Forest are described as being ‘hugely frustrating’ with no progress being made.
Tottenham won’t exactly be helped by the knowledge of them having money in the kitty having sold Harry Kane to Bayern Munich.
Forest won’t want to lose their star attacker anyway, but they will be even more firm about the asking price this late in the window and with Tottenham having cash to spend.
Tottenham are in danger of missing out here and Postecoglou may well push the Spurs hierarchy to accelerate talks and get the deal done.

Tottenham may have sold Harry Kane, but they don’t seem to be targeting an absolute direct replacement.
Postecoglou wants to add more pace to the Tottenham front line and may be looking for a more fluid approach in attack.
Johnson certainly fits the bill, having played as a winger and also as a striker during his time with Nottingham Forest.
The Welsh international has blistering pace and impressed in the Premier League last season with eight goals in 38 games.
Johnson has been praised for having ‘electric pace’ by his former Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton and that’s exactly what Postecoglou is seeking.
The question comes down to price; will Tottenham pay up the £40million and more needed to convince Forest to sell?
It’s a huge asking price and some Tottenham fans will believe that there is better value outside of the Premier League market, such as Gent star Gift Orban.
This one could go down to the final hours of the transfer window now, with Tottenham having to think carefully about whether they want to push through the difficult talks or walk away.
