The Tottenham attacking midfielder again demonstrated his exciting talent during the Under-23s’ 4-1 win over Reading.

Tottenham Hotspur starlet Marcus Edwards has been discussing his recent development with the club’s website, after another impressive performance for the Spurs second string.
To those who have closely followed Tottenham’s impressive academy over recent years, the name of Marcus Edwards won’t be unfamiliar.
But the attacking midfielder finally made an impact on the first team this summer when he joined Mauricio Pochettino’s senior squad in their pre-season friendlies in Australia and Norway.
Edwards particularly impressed against Juventus in Melbourne, demonstrating his outstanding dribbling ability and attacking threat.

With the academy star receiving a squad number for the first time this season, and with rumours that he may be given the chance of a Spurs debut at some point this year, Edwards has continued impressing for the Under-23 side, scoring twice in a 4-1 win over Reading on Monday.
And importantly for the youngster’s progress, he is able to pinpoint areas of his game that he is looking to develop in, rather than banking on his natural ability to give him a professional career, like so many wonderkids before him.
“I’ve been working on my right foot,” he told the Spurs website after the victory, having opened the scoring against the Royals with his weaker foot. “I thought that they may know I’m left-footed so I just came back on my right and tried to score.
“I was aiming for that corner and I like shooting off either foot so if I see an opportunity I’ll try to take it. As I said, I’m happy with my right-footed one because I’ve been practicing with my right foot but overall I’m happy with both goals.

“For me, I just want to get my head down and keep improving. I probably could and should have scored again but overall it was a good performance so everyone is happy.”
With that sort of attitude, Pochettino and Spurs could well have a future star on their hands. The North Londoners will be hoping for a favourable draw in the next round of the League Cup in order to give a number of their young talents, including Edwards, a taste of senior football.
