Tottenham Hotspur’s fine campaign looks set to end in disappointment.
Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris celebrates
Spurs star Hugo Lloris spoke to reporters after his side’s disappointing defeat to West Ham on Friday night, and insisted that second place would still represent a successful campaign for Tottenham, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
The north London outfit have really impressed this season, with an exciting brand of attacking football. They have also been incredibly rigid and organised, conceding just 23 goals in the Premier League – the best defensive record in the division.
And the France international has been a major contributing factor behind their success.
He spoke to reporters after the game at the London Stadium and spoke of the importance of his side securing second spot in the table, something that he feels would constitute a successful season for the Lilywhites, as quoted by the Daily Mail:
Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris
“This season is not over yet. We’ve got to secure the second place, that is the most important thing. My feeling hasn’t changed after this game. It’s the same as before this game: we must stay focused on ourselves and try to finish the job in the best way. There are three games left and we must try to win all of them and finish second. This would be a success for Tottenham, even though we wanted more.”
Spurs still have three Premier League games left to play, and could actually be mathematically out of the title race but he time they play their next match at home to Manchester United on May 14th.
That game will be the last ever match to be played at White Hart Lane, however, so that in itself should ensure that Tottenham are 100 per cent committed to winning the contest, and leaving their home of 118 years on a high.
