When Danny Rose gave an interview to the Sun criticising Tottenham Hotspur for their transfer policy and his wages, among other things, there were concerns about what the future would be for the club at left-back.
Step forwards Davies, who in the absence of Rose due to injury has made a serious statement to be first choice by adding an attacking verve to his game with two goals and two assists in the league already this term.
Marouane Fellaini of Manchester United celebrates scoring the third goal during the Premier League match against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford.

Often seen as the player who best represented David Moyes’ ill-fated 10 months in charge at Manchester United, the midfielder has now been at Old Trafford for over four years and has become integral under Jose Mourinho.
It’s well known that Mourinho values strong and physical players and they don’t come much more adept in those departments than the Belgian but not only that, he is now providing goals and assists aplenty.
Tiemoue Bakayoko of Chelsea and N’Golo Kante of Chelsea tackle Raheem Sterling of Manchester City.

In March, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said to the Manchester Evening News about Sterling: “He can be better, especially in the simple things. Still he makes mistakes in the simple and easy things and when he improves that … Wow!”
It is still early days in the campaign but the England international already has six goals in nine appearances in all competitions and under Guardiola could be finally realising the huge amounts of potential he showed at Liverpool.
