Tottenham Hotspur have previously been linked with a move for Ben Chilwell, but may have felt that they had an uphill battle trying to get a deal done.

There is no question that one of Tottenham’s most impressive players in recent weeks has been Danny Rose, with the England international producing a number of outstanding displays wherever Mauricio Pochettino asks him to play.
Rose has started to look a lot more like the player that was previously considered the best left-back in the Premier League. And his form may have left Pochettino feeling that left-back is not necessarily an area of the squad that he needs to strengthen this summer.
And if Pochettino is working with a relatively tight budget during the upcoming window, then Rose’s form is definitely doing him a favour. But perhaps a report concerning Manchester City’s plans should alert Tottenham to change their own.
The London Evening Standard reported this week that Pep Guardiola has cooled his interest in Ben Chilwell, with Oleksandr Zinchenko performing superbly since coming into the side.

That decision on the Leicester City star should alert Spurs. The Telegraph reported in September that he is one player that Pochettino was monitoring, and it would be a surprise if the Tottenham boss was not still an admirer.
And with City seemingly stepping aside, perhaps this summer may be the ideal time to break the bank for a player that may perhaps not be a priority on Pochettino’s shopping list.

Leicester fans may feel that Chilwell’s days at the King Power Stadium are probably numbered – he was linked with a £50 million move to La Liga at the end of March (via The Sun) – and it would be a massive coup for Spurs if they could step in and get a deal done.
And with Rose proving to be a revelation in central midfield at the moment, there seems to be absolutely no reason why Pochettino could not, at times, find a place for both men in his side from next season.
