Tottenham are reportedly interested in Werder Bremen midfielder Delaney.
Werder Bremen midfielder Thomas Delaney is the latest player to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as the north Londoners continue to scour the market for Mousa Dembele’s replacement.
The Daily Mail claim Brighton have had a £10million bid rejected for the 26-year-old midfielder, who is also said to be interesting Spurs and Everton ahead of the summer transfer window.
Delaney has been in impressive form this season for the Bundesliga outfit, scoring three goals and laying on another six assists during his 35 league and cup appearances.
However, the 25-time Denmark international – who is likely to join Christian Eriksen in Denmark’s World Cup squad this summer – is hardly the standard Spurs need to replace Dembele.
Belgium international Dembele’s future is in doubt at Spurs, with only a year remaining on his contract and it has been widely reported that Spurs will listen to offers for the former Fulham midfielder.
Delaney will be allowed to leave Bremen if a bid of £16.8million is made by interested parties, but he is well below the quality that Dembele provides.
Spurs already boast decent central midfield options, with Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Harry Winks rivalling Dembele for a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Though Delaney would be a decent addition for Premier League sides, the former FC Copenhagen star would simply be a sideways move for the north Londoners if they looked to land him in place of Dembele.
