Tottenham Hotspur have been encouraged to make a move for Conor Gallagher after seeing Chelsea line up a deal for Cole Palmer.

Chelsea moving in to sign Cole Palmer could now inspire Tottenham Hotspur to make a late bid for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.

That is according to The Telegraph, who claim that Tottenham have been ‘encouraged’ to bid for Gallagher before Friday’s transfer deadline.

Chelsea are on the verge of signing Cole Palmer from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £45million.

Palmer has allegedly been told he will be in contention to play as a number 10 or right winger in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Tottenham now believe that there may be a real chance to sign Gallagher – but they will have to be quick.

Chelsea are seemingly open to selling Gallagher, viewing him as a great way to bring in crucial funds after splashing the cash on Palmer.

£50million could be enough for Tottenham to tempt Chelsea into selling Gallagher and an offer is now being plotted ahead of deadline day.

Conor Gallagher leaving Chelsea still feels like a long shot

Tottenham seemingly have serious belief that they can sign Gallagher but we’re not quite as confident.

Gallagher absolutely loves Chelsea and has been with the club since way back in 2008, joining aged just eight.

Gallagher has been with Chelsea ever since but has been out on loan four times, joining Charlton Athletic, Swansea City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace.

Even with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia coming in, Gallagher may back himself to feature prominently under Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea.

Convincing Gallagher to leave Chelsea won’t be easy, even if Tottenham offer him a key role in Ange Postecoglou’s side.

The Blues may be open to a deal but Gallagher will be the key factor – and luring him away from Chelsea is far from a foregone conclusion.
