Tottenham are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.

According to The Sun, as well as reports from French newspaper L’Equipe, Tottenham are in advanced talks over a deal for Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi.

Spurs were expected to sign a new striker in January in order to offer some support for leading goalscorer Harry Kane, but chose not to enter the transfer market for new signings.

With Mauricio Pochettino having a settled squad, the Argentine may prefer to add new players in the summer instead – and one new face may already be a target for Spurs.

The print edition of French newspaper L’Equipe, as reported by WhoScored, suggested that Tottenham were in advanced talks over a deal for Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi ahead of the summer transfer window, whilst The Sun are also reporting the same news.

Batshuayi, 22, has been touted as one of Europe’s top young strikers ever since his days at Standard Liege, and his 15 goals for Marseille this season have reinforced that reputation – but have also attracted plenty of interest.

A Belgian international, Batshuayi would join up with team-mates Jan Vertonghen, Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele and Nacer Chadli, which would no doubt be appealing to him in terms of settling into a new club quickly.

With pace and power, Batshuayi would offer something completely different to the Tottenham attack, whilst offering cover for Kane, if Spurs do manage to get the deal over the line this summer, with talks allegedly underway already.
