Leeds and Tottenham are both involved in pursuing Hamburg strikers.
Hamburg’s struggles in Germany continue, but whether they avoid relegation from the Bundesliga or not, they can expect plenty of interest in teenage striker Jann-Fiete Arp this summer.
Hamburg sit second bottom of the Bundesliga table, and yet again look like they will be involved in a scramble for survival after years of somehow managing to stave off relegation.
One shining light for Hamburg has been teenage striker Arp, with the 18-year-old notching twice this season in a struggling side, whilst showing real potential in his 12 first-team appearances this season.
The German striker – who has hit 18 goals in 19 games for Germany’s Under 19’s – has already attracted major interest, and The Mirror recently claimed that Tottenham have made contact over a possible deal.
Hamburg won’t want to lose Arp, but must know that they will be fighting a losing battle given their struggles, and may already have to think about who will replace him to join Bobby Wood in attack.
Intriguingly though, one forward set to return to Hamburg this summer is Pierre-Michel Lasogga, given that his loan spell at Leeds from Hamburg comes to an end when this season finishes, and Hamburg will have a decision to make.
Lasogga, 26, had a hot-and-cold spell with Hamburg before heading to Leeds, where he has hit eight goals in 19 Championship games, again proving to be somewhat hit and miss leading the line.
In Lasogga, Hamburg will have a striker fall into their lap this summer, and they should at least consider giving the burly target man a chance to replace Arp, which may just kibosh any Leeds hopes of a permanent deal, as no permanent clause in the loan deal leaves them waiting for Hamburg’s decision – and it may just hinge on Arp.
