Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.
According to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are lining up a summer bid for Wilfried Zaha after previous attempts to sign the Crystal Palace star failed.
Spurs have been linked with Zaha since the summer of 2016, and he has starred for Palace since then with a total of 11 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League.
The Ivorian international has been electric for Palace over the last 18 months, and it’s now claimed that Spurs are confident of signing Zaha in a deal worth in excess of £50million.
Top four rivals are thought to be keen on Zaha, but after a lengthy pursuit, Tottenham may well be back for the ex-Manchester United flop this summer – and that could spark changes in attack.
Spurs already have Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela and new signing Lucas Moura who can play wide or in the creative roles behind Harry Kane, but adding Zaha may force Mauricio Pochettino into a re-think.
With Moura and Zaha offering pace out wide, pushing Son into a striking role may be one option for Pochettino, making use of the South Korean’s versatility.
Son, 25, has been sensational this season with 11 goals in all competitions, and his impressive displays in attack last term in the absence of Harry Kane showed how impressive he can be as a striker.
Fernando Llorente hasn’t impressed this season, with Spurs failing to get the best out of the Spaniard’s aerial ability, but a more mobile and skilful option like Son could be ideal.
That would allow Zaha, Moura, Eriksen and Alli to be the creative forces in a dangerous Tottenham attack, as signing another winger would certainly lead to questions about Spurs’ plans going forward.
