Tottenham did hit back as Dele Alli’s header from Moussa Sissoko’s deflected cross handed Spurs an equaliser, and Harry Kane made it three headed goals as he converted Christian Eriksen’s corner.

Tottenham’s Harry Kane misses a penalty
Given that Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal all won their games this week, Tottenham had to beat Southampton to stay in touch with the Champions League places, and they did just that.
After the final whistle, Tottenham players took to Twitter to send messages to fans, with defenders Eric Dier, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker all celebrating the victory.
Victor Wanyama was pleased to have beaten his former club, and deadline day signing Sissoko suggested that it was a fantastic way to end 2016 for Tottenham.
Finally, striker Kane poked fun at himself for his missed penalty, calling for any NFL teams to contact him about a change of career after his remarkable miss.
