Tottenham Hotspur fell to another heavy defeat at Manchester City on Saturday, despite some encouraging individual performances.
Hugo Lloris – 8/10
How many times will the Frenchman come to his side’s rescue only to find they are still on the receiving end of a bad result? Tottenham lost this one 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium – but it would have been a lot worse were it not for some typically top-class saves from Lloris.
Eric Dier – 5/10
Struggled out wide for Mauricio Pochettino’s side and earned himself another booking.
Younes Kaboul – 4/10
A really, really bad day at the office for the Spurs skipper. Where was the rock-like Kaboul that took on Arsenal with a lion’s heart? Sergio Aguero made an absolutely mockery of the centre-back today.
Federico Fazio – 5/10
Not his side’s worst defender while he was on the pitch. But an unnecessary second-half challenge in the box gave away one of the game’s four penalties in total and earned Fazio a red card on his Premier League debut.
Danny Rose – 6/10
Manchester City had unlimited joy down the right-hand side and Rose was simply powerless to stop them.
Etienne Capoue – 6/10
Did not offer much protection for his defence, as David Silva was allowed to create chance after chance. Pochettino took him off after an hour of play.
Ryan Mason – 7/10
The youngster was an impressive performer at the Etihad, even if a better finisher would have scored one of his chances early on. Mason is making a real impact at Spurs this term.
Christian Eriksen – 8/10
Tottenham’s best performer by a mile. Got a goal, created chance after chance and ran all day.
Erik Lamela – 5/10
Desperately unlucky to have given away a penalty and also unfortunate that he had an off-day just hours after Jamie Carragher criticised him in the Daily Mail. Gave the ball away for City’s first goal and lost confidence completely thereafter.
Nacer Chadli – 6.5/10
Provided plenty of energy for the visitors, if not too much of a final product.
Roberto Soldado – 7.5/10
Interestingly, this was a very polished performance from the Spaniard. He created Eriksen’s goal and his passing in the final third was sensational. Soldado also won a penalty later in the game… but missed it.
Substitutes
Mousa Dembele – 6/10
Replaced Capoue but Spurs were spectators in the second half.
Jan Vertonghen – 6/10
The same can be said for Vertonghen, who replaced Mason.
Andros Townsend – 6/10
Offered his usual energy that, as usual, didn’t change too much in the game.
