Sporting Cristal value Carlos Jhilmar Lora at less than a million pound with Premier League giants Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton eyeing up the Peru international, as reported by Depor.
Then again, as interest rises in the 21-year-old full-back, don’t be surprised if Lora’s price-tag goes through the roof between now and the summer.
According to Graeme Bailey, writing for Planet Sport, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are watching the Lima-born defender.
Lora also has admirers at Brentford, Brighton and a Crystal Palace side in need of a more adventurous, technically-gifted right-back to take over from Joel Ward and Nathaniel Clyne.
“We always have the best wishes for Jhilmar Lora,” says Sporting Cristal coach Roberto Mosquera. “At 20 years of age, not all of us play in a Copa America.”
“(He’s) like Nolberto Solano. When he mature, he will be an interesting player, not only for Cristal but also for Peruvian football. Technically, he’s excellent.”
Lora played three times as Peru finished fourth at last summer’s Copa. That includes 15 minutes off the bench in a 1-0 defeat to Brazil in the semi-finals.
“It touched me too and it is a wonderful experience (for him),” Mosquera adds. “I like that he has sent an important message against Brazil. If you can play against them, you are ready for big competition.”
The New Nolberto Solano?

Could that ‘big competition’ be the Premier League?
Clubs in Mexico, Brazil and America are interested too, according to Depor. And, with a price-tag in the region of £900,000 – at the present moment anyway – surely someone will take a punt on Lora when the transfer window opens again this summer.
The chances are that Tottenham will see Lora as ‘one for the future’, rather than someone capable of making an immediate impact under Antonio Conte.
Then again, reports linking Spurs with yet another talented young right-back – after Djed Spence and Isaiah Jones – will raise yet more questions about the futures of under-fire duo Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal.
