Tottenham Hotspur are joining the race for Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade ahead of the January transfer window.

Arsenal now face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign Fluminense midfielder Andre in January.

That is according to 90Min, who claim that Tottenham have been scouting Andre ahead of a potential move.

Andre could have moved on over the summer but stayed to see out Fluminense’s Copa Libertadores campaign.

That decision paid dividends; Andre and Fluminense became champions over the weekend, potentially providing the perfect end to the midfielder’s time Brazil.

Tottenham Hotspur now interested in Andre

90Min now claim that Tottenham have joined the battle for Andre having scouted him in recent weeks.

Juventus, Napoli and Lyon have all been checking on Andre whilst Fulham have an interest in the Brazilian.

It’s stated that Arsenal are keen on Andre with Brazilian sporting director Edu ‘greatly’ appreciating his style of play.

Andre is on the Arsenal shortlist for January, with Liverpool still lurking after having a summer bid rejected.

ESPN reported in August that Liverpool failed with a £26million offer and it’s now unclear whether they will return.

Andre seems a good fit for Tottenham Hotspur

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg may well leave Tottenham in January and Spurs would be looking for another midfielder who could suit Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.

Andre seems like a good fit; a player with real quality to pick up the ball on the half-turn and progress the play forward.

The 22-year-old has been praised for being a ‘quick’ midfielder by South American football expert Tim Vickery, Andre is charged with the task of covering a lot of space in front of his back four.

Andre has also shown an Yves Bissouma-esque ability to go past players in midfield, so we could understand Tottenham’s interest.

We could see Spurs fight Arsenal and Liverpool in this race, but much may depend on Højbjerg leaving the club to free up room and cash for Andre’s arrival.
