Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have both been vying for some of the best available managers available in recent weeks.

The likes of Mauricio Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have been linked with both Spurs and the Blues.

Now, it looks as though Tottenham may have found themselves with an all-but clear run at one of the aforementioned coaches.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are no longer particularly interested in Enrique.

This could very much pave the way for Tottenham to try their luck towards the former Barcelona and Spain boss.

The Telegraph note that Enrique has been heavily recommended to Spurs as he seeks to get back into management.

‘Not so happy’

Romano said on his YouTube channel that Chelsea’s feelings towards the 52-year-old are ‘absolutely different’ after holding talks with him.

Chelsea apparently didn’t like how talks went with Enrique in terms of his demands.

Meanwhile, the Spaniard was apparently not too sure himself about Chelsea’s project.

“At the moment, the internal feeling at Chelsea is that they have cooled their interest in Luis Enrique as head coach for next season,” said Romano.

“It’s not over yet but, at the moment, the feeling is absolutely different.

“The initial conversation was positive but nothing agreed.

“What happened is that in the last round of talks they had with Enrique, Chelsea were not so happy with some of the points.

“Also, Enrique’s feeling was not the right one, and this is why – at the moment – Chelsea have cooled their interest in Enrique.”

With Tottenham still looking for a new permanent manager, Enrique certainly wouldn’t be a bad shout.

Enrique is an ‘unbelievable‘ manager who has worked wonders for Barcelona and Spain.

He is also very confident, once telling Reuters he believed he was “the best coach on the face of this earth”.

Enrique also seems keen on a long-term project, and that’s definitely what Spurs are at present.

There’s a lot of work that needs doing at Tottenham in order to get them back to where they were under Pochettino.

Enrique may well have seen Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho struggle, and try to succeed where they failed.

Obviously there are plenty of managers’ names doing the rounds.

And the likelihood is there may not be an appointment until the summer.

However, this could well be one to watch.
