Tottenham Hotspur are being linked with Southampton’s Cedric Soares.

Tottenham Hotspur need new signings this summer after another trophy-less season, and reports suggest that boss Mauricio Pochettino already has some targets in mind.

It’s now ten years without silverware for Spurs, and with the club set to move into their new stadium this summer, fans are hoping for major arrivals.

The Mirror now report that Pochettino wants to land Southampton defender Cedric Soares, with the Saints looking set to drop into the Championship.

Soares, 26, has been a fairly solid defender for Southampton since his 2014 move from Sporting in his native Portugal, but he wouldn’t especially be a considerable upgrade on Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier.

With that in mind, if Tottenham are set on signing another right back – which wouldn’t be a shock given that Aurier has struggled to replace Kyle Walker this season – then Cedric’s Portugal international teammate Ricardo Pereira makes more sense.

O Jogo recently reported that Spurs have been scouting Porto star Pereira, and whilst The Mirror report that Leicester City are keen on him, Tottenham should be pushing the boat out to land him.

Cedric could be a bargain addition, but Pereira will seemingly cost somewhere between £22million and £36million, making him a huge addition for Spurs if they can secure his signature.

Pereira, has outstanding pace and versatility to play at left back or even on the right of midfielder, and with six assists this season, he has shown his attacking prowess, and should be Tottenham’s top right back target rather than international teammate Cedric.
