AVB confirmed the Tottenham Hotspur are looking for another striker. We take a look at potential goalscorers for the White Hart Lane club.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas confirmed the club would look to bring in another striker to compete for places with Jermain Defoe and likely-acquisition Adebayor, although negotiations have reportedly stalled in the latter’s deal. That could leave Villas-Boas with just one forward for the new season. Here is the city Sport takes a look at potential signings to bolster Spurs’ attack.

Marco Borriello

Tottenham Hotspur have in recent days made a loan offer for 30-year-old Roma forward Marco Borriello but face competition from Juventus, Werden Bremen and Galatasary. The player endured a disappointing season last term on loan at Juventus only scoring 2 goals but had scored 17 for Roma in the previous year. The journeyman striker would however only be a short-term option before more viable strikers become available in the future.

Loic Remy

Spurs have been linked to the 25-year-old Marseille and French international throughout the summer who has similarly interested Arsenal and Newcastle. The striker scored 20 goals in 42 games last term but with Marseille finishing 10th in Ligue 1, he may seek a move to a more competitive club. The striker could be available at around £15m and can lead the line on his own. The player’s strength and pace would stand him well in the Premier League and at only 25-years-old, could be a long-term threat up front for Spurs to help their quest for Champions League qualification.

Adrian

24-year-old Atletico Madrid forward Adrian has also garnered some interest from Tottenham following strong performances in his side’s Europa League victory. The player scored on his senior international debut in Spain’s friendly against Serbia but missed out on the squad that won the European Championships. The player however is not a prolific striker: last season he only scored 7 league goals but did manage to score 11 goals in Atletico’s European campaign. A move for the player would prove difficult as Atletico manager Diego Simeone asserted that the player would not be sold.

Daniel Sturridge

The 22-year-old Chelsea player had a breakout season in 2011 with a loan spell at Bolton and an emergence in Chelsea’s first-team under Villas-Boas. The player saw less time on the field when Di Matteo took charge and with only a year left on his contract, Chelsea could be open to a sale. Sturridge favours a central striking role but is equally adept on the wing and may relish a chance to join his old manager. Sturridge finished the season with 11 league goals finishing as the club’s joint-top goalscorer.

Leandro Damiao

Young Internacional striker Leandro Damiao boasts the best scoring record of all the players on this list with 70 goals in 115 career appearances. The 23-year-old already has 9 caps with the Brazilian senior team and is currently with the Olympic squad. The player may prove more expensive if we consider the touted fees for fellow Brazilians Lucas Moura and Oscar. The president of Internacional has already stated that the player will not be sold.

Harry Kane

A youth-team product, Harry Kane would not be a signing but could play a part for Spurs this season. The 18-year-old has travelled with the senior players on their preseason tour of the United States and came on for Jermain Defoe in the 1-1 draw with LA Galaxy. Kane joined Millwall on loan in January and managed 10 goals in half a seasons and won Millwall’s Young Player of the Season. Spurs’ answer for a striker could already be in their books.
