West Ham United are reportedly keen on Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish.

Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish is once again attracting Premier League interest – and Tottenham Hotspur face a major battle for his signature.

Grealish, 23, has returned to the Villa side with a bang following a major layoff with a shin injury, bagging two goals and one assist in his four games since returning.

The playmaker is showing once again that he’s too good for the Championship, and whilst Villa are challenging for a play-off place, it seems likely that Grealish will be back in the Premier League next season regardless.

The main club interested in Grealish has been Tottenham. The Mirror now report that, having come close to signing him last summer, Spurs will attempt a new move for Grealish this summer.

However, West Ham are now looking to swoop in and take him, and Spurs simply can’t afford to lose out to the Hammers; it would be unforgivable after a year-long pursuit of Grealish.

For starters, Spurs will have European football next season and an incredible new stadium to play in, as well as having a whole host of English internationals, which would potentially strengthen Grealish’s claim for Three Lions recognition.

Grealish has the drive and creativity that Spurs need and have arguably lacked since Mousa Dembele’s decline and exit, even if Grealish isn’t the same swashbuckling, box-to-box player Dembele was.

This is a signing Spurs should have made last summer, and must make now. Losing out to West Ham for a player Mauricio Pochettino clearly wants would be hugely embarrassing, and Spurs may need to do something they aren’t particularly good at – moving quickly to beat other clubs to a singing.
