The Tottenham academy graduate is seeing plenty of football at London Road, but will remember his last game for a long time.
Tottenham’s Luke McGee warms up
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Luke McGee has been talking to the Peterborough United website about performances at his loan club, as well as touching on what was a landmark moment in his brief career in his last appearance.
The 21-year-old is earning the first senior football of his career at the ABAX Stadium, having arrived at Posh in the latter stages of the transfer window for a minimum four month stay.
Though he is yet to win his first match with Peterborough, only one of those matches have been a defeat, and a particular highlight of McGee’s came in the recent draw with Shrewsbury Town, where he saved a penalty from Ian Black – the first penalty save in senior football in his career.
“Myself and Mark Tyler (goalkeeping coach) check the opposition penalty takers the day before each game,” McGee told the Posh website. “Shrewsbury’s main penalty taker didn’t play, but we look at anyone who has taken a penalty so I knew how he (Black) had scored and how he had missed.
“Luckily I guessed the right way and made the save. It was an important save as were down to 10 men and we went on to defend very well.
“We’ve had frustrating games because we have outplayed most of our opponents without winning. We’re just not finishing sides off, but with the talent we have in the squad that has to change.
“We’re keen to get on a winning run as soon as possible and hopefully we can start on Saturday.”
Having been on the bench against Swindon Town in the club’s first September game, McGee seems to have established himself as number one at the club, starting four successive League One matches, and next up for the London Road side is an away fixture against Southend United.
McGee is highly thought of at White Hart Lane, and has a contract until 2019 after playing understudy to international pair Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm for the last 12 months or so since Brad Friedel retired.

Spanish youngster Pau Lopez was brought to Spurs on loan this season as third choice, allowing McGee to take the next step in his career and get first team football under his belt, something he is making plenty of use of.
