Josh Onomah’s form is a boost for Aston Villa as well as for his own prospects ahead of his return to Tottenham Hotspur.

Having fallen out of favour at Aston Villa earlier in the campaign, Josh Onomah would have been forgiven for worrying that his prospects of making the grade with parent club Tottenham were bleak.
Onomah was once arguably one of the brightest prospects coming through at Spurs, but appears to have drifted somewhat in recent years so the move to Villa Park seemed to be the perfect opportunity for the 20-year-old to get himself back on track.

He started the season brightly, but his form appeared to dip following the turn of the year. Perhaps unsurprisingly, he played more of a peripheral role for the Villans as they chased an automatic-promotion spot in the Championship.
Onomah still has some way to go, but his last two performances just hint that he may be turning a corner again. And given the timing of the upturn, it may be fair to suggest that it has come at the ideal moment for both Villa in regards to their promotion push and for Onomah ahead of his return to Spurs.
The attacking midfielder was bright in the win over Leeds, and bagged two assists during the emphatic victory over Ipswich Town including one very clever pass for Lewis Grabban.

Automatic-promotion looks to be beyond Villa now, but an in-form Onomah is undoubtedly a massive weapon for the side heading into the play-offs.
And if he does build on his recent performances in the remaining games of the campaign and perhaps helps Villa secure promotion to the top flight, perhaps it may not be out of the question to suggest that he may earn another chance at Tottenham that looked so far away when his form deserted him earlier in the season.
