Spurs reportedly want to re-sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid but when looking back at Mauricio Pochettino’s previous transfer dealings, is that likely?
Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to re-sign Luka Modric from Real Madrid this summer, at least that is what Spanish publication Don Balon are reporting.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino thinks that Modric – who has won 11 trophies, including four Champions League titles, since joining Los Blancos from Spurs in 2012 – is exactly what is needed to seriously challenge Manchester City for the Premier League number one spot in 2018/19.
The 32-year-old is said to be tempted by a return to North London as well, as the midfielder has been considering leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu for some time.

While Madrid do not want to lose Modric, they are already looking to who could replace the Croatia international and are keeping tabs on Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara.

Pochettino is known to trust in youth, shown by the fact that only Liverpool and Newcastle United had a younger squad in the top flight of English football last season – as outlined by the Express.
In fact since the Argentine was named boss back in May 2014, only one player over the age of 30 has been signed and that was Fernando Llorente last summer; which turned out to be a massive failure.
Comparing Modric and Llorente based solely on their age is unfair, with the former having been among the best in his position for a number of years, but with the Croatian turning 33 in September it does make his return to North London unlikely while Pochettino is still in charge.
