Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly amongst the cluster of sides chasing a deal for Everton star Ademola Lookman.

According to a recent report from the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (05/06; 13:16), Tottenham have put themselves amongst the group of sides keen on signing Everton winger Ademola Lookman this summer.

Toffees fans have certainly not seen the best of the youngster – who joined in 2017 for £11 million, according to BBC Sport – but there have been glimpses of serious quality and it was deemed by many Everton fans to be a terrible decision by Sam Allardyce to allow Lookman to head out on loan to RB Leipzig in January.

And Lookman certainly showed Everton why they signed him in the first place with a stunning spell in the Bundesliga. The 20-year-old scored five goals and provided three assists in just 11 games in the top flight to help the side finish sixth, just two points off third.

Leipzig want to bring him back permanently, but the Mirror reported that Spurs and Southampton were also interested and looking to hand him a fresh chance in the Premier League.

And if Tottenham managed to win the race to bag his signature, it would arguably be a deal that would have the potential to prove a masterstroke from Daniel Levy.

Lookman can play anywhere in attacking areas and is already scoring goals and providing assists at the highest level. It is almost baffling that Ronald Koeman and Allardyce did not use him more often this past season, but Mauricio Pochettino could be the perfect coach to bring the best out of him in the coming years.

Everton will probably want a significant fee to allow Lookman to head to a Premier League rival, but he appears to have the kind of talent that could make a substantial price-tag look a real bargain if Pochettino helps him realise his potential.
