Micky Hazard, who won the UEFA Cup with Tottenham in 1984, thinks Pochettino will not leave Spurs without winning silverware first.

Mauricio Pochettino, Manager of Tottenham Hotspur speaks to the media during the Tottenham Hotspur press conference at the Enfield Training Centre on November 5, 2018 in Enfield, England.

Mauricio Pochettino has been a revelation at Tottenham Hotspur since joining from Southampton in 2014.

The 46-year-old has turned a team that finished outside the Premier League‘s top four more often than not into one that has sealed a top-three spot for the last three seasons in a row.

Fan opinion towards Pochettino is largely unanimous – most Spurs supporters adore their manager and are hoping for him to stay at the club for a long time en route to silverware.

However, Pochettino’s transformation of Tottenham has not gone unnoticed among rival clubs, who may look at the Argentine as their ideal choice to take their reins.

Manchester United have been linked with Pochettino as a potential replacement for the floundering Jose Mourinho, according to The Express.

The same source thinks Real Madrid are also interested in the former Espanyol man despite recently giving fellow Argentine Santiago Solari a contract until 2021.

Pochettino himself has previously said to the Evening Standard that he would like to manage a club in Serie A in the future, while also casting an eye on the Argentina head coach’s job.

However, Spurs legend Micky Hazard is confident that Pochettino won’t be leaving north London for the foreseeable future and expects him to win silverware before thinking about a move.

“The one thing – and the mark of the man – is that he says: ‘I’ve started this job, I’m going to finish it’,” the 1984 UEFA Cup winner told The Express.

“I don’t see Pochettino leaving in the foreseeable future. He’s started something and he knows he’s on the crest of something big with this football club.

“He knows he’ll write himself into Tottenham folklore if he brings this club a trophy or two. I think that’s what he intends to do.”
