Football London journalist Alasdair Gold has taken to Twitter to claim that Antonio Conte might include Ryan Sessegnon in his starting lineup against Norwich City this afternoon.

The Canaries are gearing up for a difficult encounter in the English capital.

Sessegnon, a £20 million signing under Mauricio Pochettino in 2019, has only managed 11 minutes of Premier League football this season.

The former Fulham academy graduate failed to endear himself to new manager Conte by getting himself sent off in the shock Europa Conference League defeat in Slovenia in November.

But Gold, who exclusively covers Tottenham Hotspur, has suggested on Twitter that the Italian manager could potentially start Sessegnon today.

The 20-year-old is suspended for the European clash with Rennes in London this coming Thursday.

And Gold has posted that Conte might give Sessegnon a first Premier League start of the season to protect Sergio Reguilon, who completed 90 minutes against Brentford on Thursday.

Here is what the journalist posted on social media this morning:

Perhaps a massive opportunity for him

If Gold is correct, and Sessegnon starts for Tottenham Hotspur, it’s a massive chance to impress the Italian trainer.

Remember, Sessegnon hasn’t started a Premier League encounter since January of 2020 – almost two years!

Unbelievable if it materialises because, honestly, the player has managed only five starts for the Lilywhites in this competition period.

But having been dismissed in Slovenia, this early in Conte’s tenure in England, this could be a chance to rectify that and it’s massively important he clutches the opportunity with both hands.
