Tottenham Hotspur youngster Josh Onomah believes that Sheffield Wednesday is the ideal place for him to prove a point to his parent club.

Josh Onomah has told the Sheffield Star that he believes that Sheffield Wednesday is the perfect club to be at in what he feels is a massive year for his Tottenham career.

Onomah was once considered one of the most exciting talents threatening to break through at Spurs. But the youngster has perhaps seen his career stagnate slightly in recent times.

He generally struggled to impress during a spell at Aston Villa last season and probably did not improve his first-team prospects at Spurs ahead of his return. But he suggested that his time at Hillsborough could be exactly what he needs as he looks to move himself back onto Mauricio Pochettino’s radar.

“It’s a very important year for me. I’m getting older and I still think I can learn a thing or two,” he told the Star.

“I think this is the next step to showcase myself more on and off the pitch. It is to showcase the staff at Tottenham what I’m capable of doing and to get minutes under my belt. I feel I can do that here. I want to express myself and what I’m really about.”

Wednesday fans are yet to get much of a look at their summer signing. He featured for the final 22 minutes of the Owls’ 2-2 draw with Stoke City at the weekend.

It would perhaps be a surprise if he got the chance to make his full debut tonight when Wednesday travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, but it will surely not be too long before Jos Luhukay is including him in the starting lineup.

Wednesday could move into the Championship play-off places with a win over Aitor Karanka’s side, but a defeat will see them fall below their opponents in the second tier table.
