Leeds United will reportedly not get the chance to bring Jack Clarke back on loan next season.

With Jack Clarke’s move to Tottenham now looking almost inevitable, the pressure looks set to be piled on Jack Harrison should the winger secure another season-long loan switch to Leeds this summer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post recently suggested that Harrison returning to Elland Road is looking increasingly more likely with Marcelo Bielsa very keen to bring the Manchester City youngster back.

But a deal that is now seemingly even more probable is Clarke’s switch to Spurs, with the London Evening Standard suggesting that talks between the two clubs are progressing, with Tottenham potentially paying an initial £8.5 million plus add-ons for the 18-year-old.

While plenty of Leeds fans have reluctantly come to terms with Clarke leaving, the London Evening Standard’s suggestion that he will not be loaned back for the coming season may be deemed by many to be a big blow as the Peacocks look to put themselves back in the promotion mix once again next term.

And if he does join Spurs and is not allowed to return to Leeds, Harrison may find himself under even more pressure to make the most of his second spell after a tough first year.

Perhaps no player in Bielsa’s squad frustrated the supporters more than Harrison this past season. On his day, he was unplayable. His assist in the play-off semi-final would have reminded many exactly why he is on Manchester City’s books, but those moments of outstanding quality were few and far between.

And it will be tougher for the concerned Leeds supporters to accept those same frustrating displays from Harrison if they Clarke is indeed sold. They may reluctantly accept the academy graduate’s departure at the moment, but not providing an adequate replacement will certainly test their patience.

It may suddenly be about to become all the more important therefore, that Harrison proves exactly why Bielsa has had so much faith in him since arriving in England.
